Jang, Useni tear Plateau PDP into two 1

The lingering crisis in the Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has broken the party into two factions. One of the factions christened as “Redemption Group” is led by former governor of the state and member board of trustees of the party, Senator Jonah Jang.

The second faction is led by the 2019 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Jeremiah Useni. The redemption group pulled out of the state party secretariat at Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, and converged at Doi in Jos south local government to hold their maiden stakeholders meeting.

While the redemption group was holding the meeting in Doi, the JT Useni group was holding another meeting at the state party secretariat.

While addressing his supporters during the meeting, Jang insisted that the group remained the authentic state party structure and would put up a reconciliatory committee made up of elders in the party to mend broken fences.

He also admonished party faithful to allow internal democracy to take its root during the next congress of the party.

“This gathering is the true PDP, because we believe the northern zone must complete the tenure of Damishi Sango in respect of the zoning formula of the party. We will put in place elders of the party to reconcile any aggrieved party. While the redemption group has Chris Hassan as their state chairman, the Useni faction has Amos Gombir as the state chairman.
